King City Secondary School's Personalized Alternative Education (PAE) program provides opportunities for students who have been previously unsuccessful or have struggled in a regular classroom setting and would benefit from an alternative learning environment.
Students would typically work independently on their courses using the Blended Learning/Desire to Learn (D2L) web-based platform with teacher guidance and instruction.
Students requiring PAE are usually enrolled for a period or two with the balance of their timetable being in regular classes.
Placement in the PAE program requires the approval of the PAE Department, in consultation, with Guidance Department and/or the Administration.
The PAE program offers a smaller class size, continuous entry, a customized work pace atmosphere and the stability of one classroom.
The courses are primarily at the Applied level, but many are also offered at the Essential level as well. The roster of courses is flexible and is growing on an ongoing basis.
