Geography

The Geography Department at King City S.S. offers several courses which reflect several aspects of Canadian and World geography such as; Immigration, Resource Use, Trade, Geology, Tourism, Sustainability, and Social/Political Trends.

In grade nine, both at the academic and applied levels, students focus on Canada; landform regions, immigration and settlement, and our resourced based economy. Varied projects and tests comprise the semester’s work, while a final exam and research project on a Canadian Ecozone are used as final assessments.

Senior courses focus on our world, its cultures and geology, and class trips to study urban tourism (CGG-3O1), or a trip to the Warsaw Caves (CGF-3M1) are offered in grade 11. The complex topics of geopolitics, modernization, the debt crisis, terrorism, and possible future outcomes for our world are covered (CGW-4U1) in grade 12.
